9,000 Maharishi Vedic Pandits for World Peace

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi chose Vedic Pandits to be the members the peace-creating group because since ancient times they have been the traditional custodians of Vedic wisdom responsible for maintaining harmony in society and balance in nature. Through Maharishi’s attention on revealing the full understanding of Vedic knowledge, the technologies of consciousness for creating peace have been restored to their original effectiveness and have been validated by scientific scrutiny. This has allowed the Vedic Pandits, after being trained in these technologies of consciousness, to once again fulfill their traditional role of creating harmony, peace and balance for the world.

In January 2008, Maharishi established the Brahmananda Saraswati Trust to support and endow the large group of Maharishi Vedic Pandits at a campus in the Brahmasthan (geographic centre) of India. The goal is to support 9,000 Pandits. As a stepping stone, the immediate target is to expand the group from its current 2,000 to 3,500 — a number sufficient to create a beneficial effect for all of India and a firm foundation for achieving the target of 9,000.

The spillover effect of peace

It is widely acknowledged that those who practise the Transcendental Meditation programme experience greater peacefulness within themselves. This experience has been scientifically correlated with greater orderliness of brain functioning.

What is not so widely known is that when a relatively small proportion of a city or nation practises TM, a spillover effect of peacefulness spreads to the surrounding population. This phenomenon has been verified by 23 scientific studies and has been found to be especially powerful when the advanced TM-Sidhi programme is practised in a group.

Harnessing this technology is the core programme of the Global Peace Initiative.
